Happy holidays at Le Rocher de la Cave
Getting to Beynac-et-Cazenac from our campsite
From the campsite, the road to Beynac-et-Cazenac winds along the magnificent scenic loop in the river called the “Montfort cingle.” It runs more or less alongside the Dordogne River, passing through Saint-Donat, La Roque-Gageac and Marqueyssac. Along the way, you will come across some of the regions best-known landmarks: the castle of Montfort, the fort of La Roque-Gageac and the gardens of Marqueyssac. To get to Beynac-et-Cazenac by car, it takes approximately twenty minutes.
A campsite on the banks of the Dordogne
Le Rocher de la Cave campsite is located on the banks of the Dordogne. The campsite gives access to a beach where kayakers, camping guests and locals who know the best spots in the area can relax.
Beyond its stunning surroundings, the campsite boasts an additional perk courtesy of the Dordogne River: a nice place to cool off. In the summer season, when the temperature soars in the afternoon, a refreshing dip in the river is always welcome. And unlike at the seaside, on the campsite’s beach, only the children make waves.
Accommodation at our 3-star campsite near Beynac
For a traditional, comfortable stay, choose one of our mobile homes. With 1, 2, 3 or even 4 bedrooms, these holiday rentals can accommodate a variety of guests from couples without children, to small or large families, and groups of friends.
Do you like glamping? Our unusual accommodation will make your holiday a touch more original. From the wooden mountain chalet-style cabin, to the Jungle Lodge for a hint of adventure, or the Woody tent for a “out of Africa” experience, there’s a wide choice of cabins to choose from! These lodgings are perfect for those looking to combine comfort with being close to nature.
Between a tent and a mobile home there is a nice in-between option: the canvas bungalow. This type of accommodation has all the advantages of a tent, without the disadvantages such as setting it up and taking it down. You’ll sleep in a comfortable bed whilst remaining close to nature. And there’s no need to bring all your kitchen equipment!
Campsites have come a long way since they were first invented. And yet, traditional camping in a tent is still very popular. And of course, at Le Rocher de la Cave, we also offer pitches for sleeping bag aficionados. Simply set up your hammock between two trees, get out the stove and, with a bit of luck, you’ll be able to enjoy one of the campsite pitches overlooking the beach.
Leisure activities to keep you entertained throughout your stay at our campsite.
A campsite with heated swimming pool
It’s the star of every campsite: the pool! At Le Rocher de la Cave, the pool is open from May. Temperatures in the low season can be a little chilly, but it’s not a problem as the water is heated. So if you are planning a holiday over the Ascension or a week-end in May you’ll be able to go for a swim.
Next to the pool, the water play area is the children’s favourite spot. After a few bombs, they will soon be running over to the water jets and spraying at everything that comes their way. After a swim, relax by the pool. The pergola provides shade for those who prefer to stay out of the sun, whilst the sun loungers closest to the pool are perfect for soaking up the vitamin D.
Go canoeing from the campsite
Not content with enjoying a beautiful green setting? Our campsite also has a beach on the banks of the Dordogne. We also offer canoe hire so you can visit the surrounding area in the most beautiful way possible: on the water.
There’s no escaping one of the must-do activities of the Périgord Noir. The meandering Dordogne River links some of the region’s most beautiful villages, such as Domme and La Roque-Gageac.
You don’t need a tour guide to be a freshwater sailor. Simply, set off from Saint-Julien de Lampon, or for the most courageous Souillac, and float towards Castelnaud. The riverside castles will watch over you as the light current of the Dordogne gently takes you on a beautiful adventure.
Sports activities at the campsite
Of course, holidays are about relaxing. But there is nothing to stop you using up a bit of your energy whilst you have the chance. To take on your friends and family in a friendly (or not so friendly) match, head over to the campsite’s sports fields. Football, basketball, volleyball…all the traditional sports are available. There is also a skatepark and trampolines for the children.
Food and fun at the campsite
Our bar-restaurant is located right on the water’s edge. Whether it is the ice cubes in the glass or the calm of the river that refresh your mind, here, you’ll find a warm and friendly atmosphere. On the menu, you’ll find a number of typical dishes from the Périgord Noir region.
To liven-up your holiday, the campsite also organises evening concerts in the restaurant during the high season. Enjoy the mussels and fries, between dancing and having fun.
Visit Beynac-et-Cazenac
A huge cliff reflected in the Dordogne. Cobbled streets that take you back in time. And right at the top, a castle with breathtaking views. Welcome to Beynac-et-Cazenac, one of the most popular villages of the Périgord Noir.
Whether you are accompanied by a guide or free as a bird, there are a few places that cannot be missed, starting with the Fortress of Beynac. You may have a feeling of déjà vu here… not surprising, since the castle has been used as a film location for numerous films including Les Visiteurs 2 and Luc Besson’s Joan of Arc.
