Plage animé

Want to escape the daily routine? Reconnect with nature? Enjoy the peaceful, yet lively setting of an unspoilt river? Located on the banks of the Dordogne, Le Rocher de la Cave Campsite welcomes you for a holiday getaway or weekend break. Our campsite offers an authentic experience to those who dream of only one thing: basking in the cool water until nightfall.

Camping holidays by the water

Welcome to the heart of Périgord Noir, a region famous for its rich history as well as its natural beauty. Here, at the campsite, life is punctuated by the rhythm of lapping water, cool currents, and the ripples of boats gliding along the river. In this green setting, Le Rocher de la Cave enjoys the benefits of the Dordogne River night and day. In fact, our campsite is located just a few meters from the banks of the river.

The Dordogne: a river with peaceful charm

Over the course of its 483 km, the Dordogne winds its way through three regions: Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, Occitanie, and finally Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It is one of the cleanest rivers in France. And it is classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Our campsite is located south of Sarlat. In this part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the river meanders freely through the countryside, and Man has adapted to it for centuries. It flows peacefully and allows you to travel by boat. In the past, the river was even a busy trading route.

The landscapes and cliffs sculpted by the Dordogne River serve as promontories for some of the region’s most beautiful castles such as Castelnaud and Beynac. Dotting its banks are also charming villages, their histories closely linked to the river. One of the most appreciated: La Roque-Gageac, certified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.

I want to stay on the banks of the Dordogne

Camping + rivière - vue drone

How will you keep yourself busy during your stay?

Day and night in the water

Are you planning to spend your entire stay with your feet in the water? Two possibilities await: the river or the pool. Or both! On the campsite’s beach, lazing around and swimming in the Dordogne River are our holidaymakers’ favourite activities. Near the pool, the children will love the water games at the water play area. Are you the type of person who gets cold easily? If the river is too cold during your stay, the pool is heated from the beginning of the season.

Adventure on the river

When you spend your holidays on the banks of the Dordogne River, a canoe trip is a must. This is why our campsite offers holidaymakers a hire service. Setting off from the campsite’s beach, you have the choice of four excursions:

  • Two 8-kilometre excursions between Carsac-Aillac and Vitrac, or between Saint-Julien de Lampon and Carsac-Aillac.
  • Two 18-kilometer excursions for the more adventurous, between Carsac-Aillac and Castelnaud or between Souillac and Carsac-Aillac.

Paddle down the river with family or friends, worry-free, as we will take care of getting you back to the campsite.

Skatepark - trot

Everything for a fun-filled camping holiday

Our campsite has a playground for the children as well as a sports area (volleyball, ping-pong, football…). Skaters can head to the skatepark, whilst animal lovers visit the campsite’s mini farm.

Summer entertainment by the water

Our campsite has a bar-restaurant overlooking the campsite beach. Sip your drink as the river flows by. Try our renowned pizzas, or some typical Périgord Noir dishes.

To liven-up your holiday, the campsite also organises a weekly evening concert during the high season. Between dance moves, get your family around the table to share: mussels & fries, on the menu especially for this occasion.
